So you've thought and researched, and now it's time to sit down and make art. So where do we go from here?
In this unit, we'll discuss the following:
- Questions- Who, what, when, where, and why?! You'll learn to formulate self-answering questions that can help you teach yourself how to enhance your portfolio.
- Practice, Experimentation, Revision- As Bob Ross once said, there are no mistakes, just happy accidents! But sometimes, these accidents lead to reconsideration of a motif or a piece, and that leads to new avenues in art-making. Revising, editing, remaking, redoing, and repeating are vital to getting the absolute most of your time in the studio. Art is about practice, and making mistakes only helps you adapt.
- Choices and Combinations- Saying you're going to have a hundred artistic ideas is a gross underestimate. Art is full of ideas, and being an artist means seeing them in every nook and cranny. Learning about what materials or ideas are most fruitful or important is key, as is how to incorporate them harmoniously into a cohesive body of work.
- Elements and Principles- Art all ties into itself. You'll come to recognize what fundamental pillars of art and design are fueling your work or how to change your work to more accurately reflect what you wish to say or show.
